Aphorisms

Art: to learn a language and to speak- of life, and love, and death.

The End of the Road to Peace: appreciating the good and quietly accepting everything else. Better still: to add something good to the world yourself.

Keeper of the Flame: the normal condition of of society (of the world, of the universe) is nothingness, abyss. See the second law of thermodynamics. Good things require effort to maintain, and thus they require maintainers. Guardians and gardeners.

Behind the mask: All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. So what are we when we’re not merely playing? …

You and Us: Be not ashamed for yourself, in any circumstances or for any reason. It’s not really you. As all words are a mere abstraction, always falling short of the reality they attempt to describe, so is every human personality a mere attempt at expressing the divine spirit which animates us all. Play your role with energy and enthusiasm. Heed the wisdom of Martin Luther when he said- sin boldly! And abstain boldly too, if that’s who you are.

Die Spargel Wachst: Spring has sprung! The birds and crickets sing, the peacock unfolds its colors. Why? So other birds, crickets, and peacocks will come have sex with them. And what is any human action but a peacock’s feather?

Secrets: Lies do not become true by being believed and repeated by millions or billions of people. Indeed, truth’s chastity will admit but the few.

Towards Clarity: Usually the truth is obvious, and the only significant barrier is a lack of willingness to accept it.

A Process of Weeding Out: Guys, women will start to make sense when you realize that they’re genetically predisposed to try and confuse you.

Nihil: Only a small number of addictions are caused by physical cravings. More often the root of addiction is a belief that there is nothing better to do with your time.

Life: Not such a big deal. “just a ride” – Bill Hicks. That’s no reason not to enjoy it.
